MRHS offers comprehensive math and science programs that prepare students well for their futures. Course options include everything from Algebra to Medical Chemistry. Three years of math are required to graduate from MRHS and four years is highly recommended for college-bound students. One credit must be in algebra and one in geometry. Honors students start with geometry and general education students start with algebra as freshmen, swapping this focus for sophomore year. As juniors, students either take an additional course in one of these areas or move on to pre-calculus before senior year, when most students have a chance to choose an elective. Electives are separated by level with mathematical analysis and college algebra available at the general education level, pre-calculus available for honors students, and calculus or statistics available at the advanced placement level. Two years of science are required to graduate from MRHS and three to four years are highly recommended for college-bound students. Freshmen start with biology and then move on to chemistry as sophomores before deciding on whether to take physics as juniors. Senior year is open for students to choose from a range of electives, including experiential medical physiology and biochemistry, genetics, and human physiology, as well as Advanced Placement biology, physics, and chemistry.
